LW Nelson Junior Scholarship
History
The LW Nelson Junior Scholarship was established in 1958 by Northland farmer and businessman Laurence William Nelson. The Scholarship is managed and administered by Public Trust.
Scholarship Criteria
The Scholarship is offered to students who wish to attend boarding school at any school as a boarder within the Trust’s funding region (Northland area, within the boundaries of the districts of Kaipara, Whangarei and the Far North) and who meet the following criteria:
Aged 13 years or less, and
Would not be able to attend School otherwise than as a boarder and,
Who reside in the Northland Area, within the boundaries of the districts of Kaipara, Whangarei and the Far North.
All Scholarships are conditional on the applicant being enrolled at the school within the Trust’s region as outlined in the application.
The successful applicant will be awarded an annual sum towards boarding fees for a period of three years. All successful applicants will be required to request scholarship continuation for year 2 and year 3 boarding fees.
How to apply
Applications open from 15 September to 31 October annually. Please note this time frame may change from time to time.
