John Stewart Booth, an Aucklander, left his residuary estate to the John Stewart Booth Trust for the purpose of providing grants for the relief, assistance and benefit of aged and/or infirm persons who live permanently in the North Shore City area of Auckland to enhance the quality of life of the recipient/s. The specified area is regarded as being confined to the territorial boundaries of the former local authority known as the North Shore City Council.
The John Stewart Booth Trust is a Registered Charity under the Charities Act 2005, Registration No. CC59912. The Trust is managed and administered by Public Trust.
Application guidelines
Applicants must be a registered charitable entity.
People or groups benefit from the funding must reside in the former North Shore City area of Auckland.
Applications are to be completed online via Public Trust’s website.
Annual available contestable grants include one large grant at the maximum value of $40,000, and smaller grants at the value from $5,000 to $20,000 per grant.
Funding sought must be for a specific project.
Applications for funding are considered by the John Stewart Booth Trust Committee.
Organisations receiving a grant will need to meet Public Trust’s Accountability requirements.
Applications will be open from 22 April to 22 June each year.
