Four easy steps to writing your will

1
Take time to think through your plans

Consider your assets and whom you might want to pass these on to. Check out our handy videos below for things you should consider when thinking about preparing your will.

2
Create your will

It's quick and easy to prepare your will online – first you need to create an account at publictrustonline.co.nz to get started. Once you have an account set up, follow our step-by-step process to prepare your will. To finish your will, you must confirm and complete payment. Once you’ve paid you have 30 days to come back and make changes.

3
Print and sign

Once you’ve purchased your will, you’ll be prompted to print a hard copy so it can be signed. Print your will on plain paper and review it, before signing it in person with two independent witnesses. Store your signed will in a safe place, and let your executor know where you put it.

4
Update

As life changes, so should your will. To make any changes to your will, simply login to your Public Trust account and make the necessary updates to your will. You can do this any time, but any changes will incur a small fee. You will need to follow the same steps and get the revised will signed with witnesses for it to be valid.
